Water Treatment for Steam Boilers

Proper water maintenance is essential to keeping boiler rooms both safe and efficient. Every 1/8" of calcium and other debris created by steam boilers translates to a 3-5% loss in heat transfer. In addition, the build-up of debris could accumulate to a point where the boiler could have a failure to the tubes or tube sheets.

To avoid these potentially costly and dangerous situations, make sure to routinely treat the water with a water chemical to get rid of the debris. It is also critical to test the water at least twice a week, sometimes daily. If the TDIS readings get too high, make sure to bottom blow the boiler to maintain the proper TDIS recommended by your manufacturer.
